3. Whitworth Scholarship Award
The scholarship Supports the development of outstanding young engineers planning to embark on or already on an undergraduate degree level programme. The Whitworth Awards are open to engineers in all the main engineering disciplines including mechanical civil electrical and other engineering disciplines.
Whitworth Scholarship Awards for Undergraduate & Masters
It is available for undergraduate engineering degree-level courses of any engineering discipline including MEng and MSc courses.
Whitworth Scholarship Awards for Undergraduate & Masters Value
- Full-time study – £9,000 per year for up to 4 years (excluding industrial placements)
- Sandwich – The award will be paid on a pro rata basis
- Part-time study – The award will be paid on a reduced basis normally £3,000 per year
- MSc (1 year full-time) £9,000
- MSc (2 year part-time) normally £3,000 per year
Whitworth Senior Scholarship Awards (Postgraduate research)
The scholarship is available for Postgraduate Research (For Postgraduate Research leading to a MPhil, PhD or EngD). Conditions of eligibility will be the same as for the Whitworth Scholarship Awards except that a degree-level programme will have already been completed. The value of scholarship is Up to £15,000 p.a. for full-time research for a maximum period of three years and from £4,500 p.a. for part-time research. 4. Ford Scholarship Programme
The Ford Scholars Program was created by Kenneth W. Ford (1908-1997), a founder of The Ford Family Foundation, to assist students who otherwise would find it impossible, or at least very difficult, to obtain a college degree. Award covers 90% of unmet college costs and is calculated on the college’s Cost of Attendance (tuition, fees, room and board, personal costs, etc.), minus other grants and scholarships. Ford provides up to £10,000 per student over a three-year period for 100 undergraduates on a selection of engineering, manufacturing and technology, and science courses at leading universities in the UK. 5. Institution of Mechanical Engineers Awards and Scholarships
The Institution is always delighted to offer scholarships to students studying for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The IMechE Undergraduate Scholarship is available for mechanical engineering students in the UK with great academic credentials. The scholarship provides up to £9,000 for masters students and £2,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate studies.

The international Engineering Management Scholarships is offered by the University of Manchester’s Faculty of Science and Engineering. The scholarship funding is available to students undertaking Postgraduate taught studies. 10. Imperial College London Electrical & Electronics Engineering Scholarships
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has a number of scholarships for outstanding PhD applicants each year. Applicants are nominated for funding initially by the potential PhD supervisors, after the offer of a PhD place, and funding decisions are made by our Awards Panel Committee. Applicants who apply earlier (i.e. by October for the following October), are more likely to be nominated for this funding as the process is highly competitive.
